Computers
I came by the
remains of a 486 computer, and asked someone at work if they could
fix it, which they managed to do. Since then I have asked
the person many questions which he patiently answered,
though I suspect he became fed up with me constantly bringing in
the computer to be fixed. I made the effort to try and
sort out my own troubles and have gained some experience and
satisfaction learning.
Computers are still relatively new to me I
am gradually learning as I go along, I wish I had someone who had
all the answers to my questions from whom I could learn. The favourite pc magazine that used to read was
PC Answers I personally liked the style it was written in and enjoyed
the features such as over clocking and the clinic. I managed to
build myself a computer it consists of a socket7 mainboard, K6 amd
450mhz cpu, 64mb ram, 6 gig. hdd, it has 8mb onboard graphics, and
onboard sound. There seems to be so many different things you can
use a computer to do, I seem to be mainly tinker
upgrading old computers for fun, and play the occasional
game. This web site I created using notepad, it is my first attempt
you will have to forgive me if it is not very good, I hope to
improve it but my knowledge is very limited, maybe I will learn
more if I go to evening classes, I wish I had a friend locally who
could help me develop my understanding of computers. I have updated this site hopefully so it looks better.
(Update) I have done a
CLAIT course, and ECDL course, which have given me some
understanding of Microsoft products, eg: Word, Excel, and Access
etc. I am wondering about another course to progress onwards. I
have over the last eight months built two computers one for myself,
and one for my son. These are based on ECS K7S5A motherboards, with
AMD Duron 1000mhz CPU's which are adequate at the moment, I also
used what I could from our old AMD K6 computers eg: Hard Drives CD
Drives, And some memory, and a Graphics card to cut down on
costs. I have also now installed a DVD writer, which is amultiformat drive.
